The National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) is seeking passionate and driven college students and post-grads to join our dynamic team for a 10-week summer internship program. This is an incredible opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the fast-paced world of professional sports and contribute to the growth of women’s soccer in the United States.
About the Program:
This immersive internship program offers students the chance to work alongside industry professionals in a variety of departments, gaining valuable insights and practical skills. You will be exposed to the inner workings of a leading sports league, contributing to meaningful projects and initiatives.
Program Dates: Program will run for 10-weeks mid-May through early September with start/end dates reflective of department needs and school calendar variations.
Location: New York, NY (In-person)
Key Details:
- Duration: 10-weeks
- Eligibility: Must be currently enrolled in a college or university or a post-grad looking for an opportunity within professional sports.
- Location: Must be able to work in person in New York, NY (in office required Tues-Thurs; hybrid/remote option on Mon/Fri)
- Compensation: This is a paid internship opportunity.
- Housing/Relocation: No relocation or housing assistance will be provided.
- Commitment: Must be able to commit to the full 10-week program between mid-May and early Sept, with start and end dates dictated by department and some flexibility pending school schedules.
Available Departments:
Internship opportunities are available across the following departments:
- Marketing: Assist with content creation, social media management, development, and fan engagement initiatives.
- Office of League Transformation: Support projects focused on the strategic growth and development of the NWSL.
- Accounting/Finance: Support P&L and balance sheet account analysis, reconciliations and accruals; assist with revenue recognition and reporting; support accounts payable with day-to-day operations
- People & Culture: Support recruitment, onboarding, employee engagement, and other HR-related activities.
- Strategy: Conduct research, analyze data, and contribute to strategic planning initiatives.
- Club Business: Gain exposure to league operations and club relations, supporting key business functions.
- Legal: Assist with legal research, contract review, and other legal administrative tasks.
- Player Operations/Player Affairs: Support player logistics, player development initiatives, and player relations.
- Sporting: Assist with league competition operations, scouting, youth pipeline and other sporting-related activities.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with day-to-day departmental tasks and projects.
- Conduct research and analyze data.
- Prepare reports and presentations.
- Participate in team meetings and brainstorming sessions.
- Provide administrative support as needed.
- Contribute to a positive and collaborative team environment.
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a college/university degree program or post-grad looking for an opportunity with a professional sports league.
- Strong interest in sports, particularly women’s soccer.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or Google Workspace.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Must be able to reliably commute to the New York, NY office.
